Explore mindfulness through visual art with this exciting art making workshop instructed by Okanagan based artist and art therapist Amy Van Dongen. Amy will guide participants through an introduction to the practice of altered books, an artform that merges collage, storytelling and poetry. Participants will choose from a variety of books and collage materials and transform them to tell their unique story. This workshop is offered to the community by UBC Okanagan Gallery. All materials will be provided and no previous art making experience is necessary.

About the Artist:

Amy Van Dongen is an Okanagan based artist and art therapist. She holds a Fine Arts Degree from University of Waterloo and a Graduate Diploma from the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute. Amy has 8 years experience creating art with a variety of populations from small children, teens, kids/teens with autism, adults, seniors, adults with diversabilities and Mamas and babies. Amy loves empowering individuals to find their passion in art and focus on their self care. She is currently drawn to fibre arts, collage and abstract painting in her own art practice.
